The Pregnancy Care Center, 718 S. Main St., has joined forces with HELP Crisis Pregnancy Center in Monroe, N.C., to aid women and families experiencing an unplanned pregnancy.

The Monroe Center recently started a Mobile Ultrasound Ministry which provides pregnancy testing and limited ultrasounds, free of charge.

Amy Vincent, Pregnancy Care Center executive director, said it has already been established that ultrasound has a profound effect on abortion-minded women.

“More than 80 percent change their minds about abortion once they see their unborn baby on ultrasound,” she said. “By being mobile, we are making the gift of ultrasound available to everyone.”

The mobile center can meet women in their neighborhoods or outside the doors of a busy shopping center. Often, appointments are not necessary.

“Convenience is what it’s all about,” Vincent said.

“Whether it’s an inner city, a college campus, the mall or a shopping center, we can be there to help.”

Vincent said working with the Monroe Center has been an incredible blessing. While the “little pink house” on Main Street offers several services,  Vincent said medical services are not among them.

“The mobile unit allows us to make sure every woman has the opportunity to see her baby and make an informed decision,” Vincent said.

The Mobile Ultrasound Ministry is available in Lancaster on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“Look for it between Chick-fil-A and Wal-Mart,” she said. “The side of the RV says Image Clear Ultrasound.

“You can’t miss it,” Vincent said.
