Powers-Plyler Wedding

Lockey Boyd Powers and Adam Michael Plyler were married at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 22, 2014, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Columbia by the Rev. John Fletcher Montgomery.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hendricks Powers of Columbia. She is a graduate of Presbyterian College with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. She works for Richland County School District 1.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Grady Boyce Plyler of Lancaster. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in history. He works for Snacktime Distributors Inc.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Maid of honor was Mary Loretta Hepworth of Charleston.

Bridesmaids were Mary Margaret Powell of Columbia and Kathryn Chaffee Stinnette of Greenville.

Best man was the father of the groom.

Groomsmen were Garrett Benjamin Plyler, brother of the groom, and Clark Allen Williams, both of Lancaster.

Flower girl was Caroline Grace Plyler.

Ring bearer was William Jackson Winters.

Ushers were Richard Bonner Carter, Nicholas McNeill Lewis and Nicholas Garrett Watson, all of Columbia.

Music was provided by organist Celia Tolar Bane and bagpipes by William Porcher DuBose.

Worn by her grandmother and her mother before her, the bride’s dress was a long-sleeve satin dress with diamond cutouts, beading around the neckline and a four-foot train. She wore a floor-length sheer veil and carried a cascading bouquet of a variety of white flowers.

A reception was held at The Palmetto Club in Columbia.

After a honeymoon in the mountains, the couple will live in Columbia.
