A Lancaster man who was facing felony animal cruelty charges in York County was found dead Wednesday in his cell at the Union County, N.C., jail.
Authorities there say his death may have been suicide, the Associated Press said.
Travis Small, 29, had been held there since Nov. 28 on charges of felony larceny, failure to appear in court, driving without an operator's license and reckless driving to endanger.
Small also had outstanding warrants in York County for throwing a poodle and cat from a moving car.
