Paging Ryan Payne. Earth to Ryan Payne. Please come in Ryan Payne, who wrote the guest column, “Neal, Legislature got it wrong with Amazon,” in the Sept. 25 edition of The Lancaster News.
Did you hear that Continental Tire is opening a new plant in Sumter? Yeah, Sumter. They’re going to bring 1,700 jobs and this opening has been praised by the local Tea Party hero, Mick Mulvaney.
I’m sure with your bandwagon personality we won’t read any negative comments about this company opening like the one you wrote about Jimmy Neal voting to allow Amazon to open in Lexington. I wonder why? I know why – you would never berate a fellow Republican like you did Jimmy Neal. Here are a few facts for you about Jimmy Neal. He has made a career of serving the public. He has been a school teacher, coach, principal and state representative. Oh, by the way, he was the principal of your alma mater before you got there. Ask some of your former teachers about Jimmy Neal. Learn about the man that Jimmy Neal is. The influence he has had on many lives. Oh, yes, you could probably call and talk to Jimmy. He’s that kind of person. If you take issue with the things he stands for, that’s fine; however, before you write a letter to the editor trying to smear his name and voting record, you should look at some facts and look at the outcomes of his political races.
Thank goodness most of the voters in Jimmy’s district don’t listen to people like you. Did you really think Amazon was coming to Lancaster, Kershaw or Flat Creek?
If you did, you should have your head examined. Jimmy Neal will always represent his constituents with class and dignity. It is a shame that you wrote your opinion piece without getting to know Jimmy or why he voted that way.
As you get older, you’ll learn. I wish you the very best.
I just hope you’ll learn to think for yourself and recognize hogwash when you see it.
