The Lancaster Dixie Baseball Ozone stars did it the hard way, but got it done.
The Ozone stars, on the final day of the tournament after battling out of the loser’s bracket, need two wins to capture the district title and a bid to the state championship tournament and completed the task as they defeated the Rock Hill Nationals, 9-4, 5-4.
The Ozone state tourney will be played at the new complex in Georgetown July 14-19. Lancaster, the District 2 champions, will play the District 5 champs at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 14.
In the title-clinching game, Lancaster scored two runs in the fourth inning for what proved to be the winning runs. Noah Vincent, who had a single, double and two RBIs, drove in the fourth run and scored the fifth run on a throwing error.
Dylan Sistare worked five innings for the win and Shylyn Wright hurled an inning for the save.
Sergio Vazquez aided the Lancaster Ozone stars with a single and two RBIs.
Sistare had a double, while John Cauthen and Michael Lewis each had a hit.
The Lancaster Ozone stars forced the second game after taking a 9-4 win over Rock Hill National to open play Thursday.

Noah Vincent supplied a home run, double and a RBI. John Cauthen provided two hits and a RBI. Michael Lewis and Evan Hardin each had a hit and drove in a run. Shylyn Wright added a RBI.
Lewis, the winning pitcher, worked two innings as did Wright and Gomez, who earned the save.
The Rock Hill Nationals handed Lancaster its lone tournament loss, a 16-6 defeat on Tuesday, July 3.
