The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is hoping the public can help find a missing 68-year-old woman.
Lancaster resident Edith Cauthen was reported missing Wednesday by her family, according to a sheriff’s office press release. Her family said Cauthen was last seen walking near her home on Old Lynwood Circle in Lancaster about a month ago.
The family said Cauthen suffers from medical conditions and requires special care.
Cauthen is a black woman, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 130 pounds. The family was not sure what she was wearing when she disappeared, the release said.
Investigators with the sheriff’s office have begun a detailed investigation and Cauthen has been listed as a missing person. The sheriff’s office is sending information about Cauthen to neighboring law enforcement agencies in an effort to find out what happened to her.
The investigators are also searching local hospitals and speaking with neighbors and family members for more information.
“We are still working on all this,” said Maj. Matt Shaw with the sheriff’s office. “She lives with certain family members on Old Lynwood Circle, but other family members are the ones who reported her missing.”
Shaw said investigators only have limited information at this point.
“We are in the process of trying to find people to talk to and figure out what we can,” he said.
Anyone with information about Cauthen’s disappearance is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 283-4136 or contact Crimestopper’s at 1 (888) 274-6372). You can also e-mail or text your anonymous tip to: www.midlandscrimestoppers.com.
