Nighthawks to play for state title

Former LHS leads Northern Guilford

The Northern Guilford Nighthawks, led by former Lancaster High School head football coach Johnny Roscoe, will be shooting for the N.C. High School Athletic Association 3-AA state championship Saturday night at 7 in N.C. State’s Carter-Finley Stadium.

The 13-2 Nighthawks, who have four straight road game in the playoffs, advanced with a 28-20 win over Wilson Hunt on Friday night. NGHS quarterback Rocco Scarfone was 9-12 passing for 227 yards and two touchdowns.

Northern Guilford faces Crest High of Boiling Springs, N.C., for the state title. Crest, 11-3, moved on with a 31-10 win over Charlotte Catholic High School.
