Holiday closings

◆ Lancaster city and county offices will be closed on Jan. 15 in observance of Martin Luther King Day. Both offices will resume normal business hours on Jan. 16. Emergency services, such as fire, police and EMS, will operate normal hours.

◆ Lancaster County Department of Social Services will close on Jan. 15 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The office will reopen with regular business hours on Jan. 16.

County Republicans meet Jan. 25

Democratic precinct reorganization

Lancaster County Democratic Party will hold a precinct reorganization on Jan. 27. Voters will meet at different locations according to the precinct they live in. Those precincts are:

◆ Antioch, Camp Creek, Chesterfield Ave., Douglas, Dwight, Elgin, Erwin Farm, Gooches Crossroad, Hyde Park, Jacksonham, East Lancaster, West Lancaster, Lynwood Drive, Riverside, Spring Hill, Unity, University and Van Wyck will meet from 10 a.m.-noon at Lancaster County Library, 313 S. White St.

◆ The Lodge and the Lake House at Sun City will meet from 10 a.m.-noon at the Lake House at Sun City Carolina Lakes, 1353 Del Webb Blvd., Fort Mill.

◆ Black Horse Run, Gold Hill, Harrisburg, Osceola, Pleasant Valley, Possum Hollow, River Road and Shelley Mullis will meet from 1-3 p.m. at Del Webb Library, 7641 Charlotte Highway, Indian Land.

Senior rental help available

The Lieutenant Governor’s Office on Aging administers an emergency rental assistance program for seniors funded through the S.C. Finance and Development Authority. 

The program provides short-term help to low-income seniors ages 60 and older. It provides money for rent, which will be sent to the property owner or landlord. For details, call Pam Grant at (800) 868-9095 or e-mail grantp@aging.sc.gov.

CCA offers help with energy bills

The Lancaster County Office of Carolina Community Actions Inc. is taking applications to help low-income families with home energy bills and other programs and services. 

Family households must be income-eligible and provide supporting documents to qualify.
