There’s been a delay to the start of the 2013 tax season.
Because of new federal legislation enacted Jan. 2 in response to the “fiscal cliff,” the Internal Revenue Service won’t begin processing individual income tax returns until Jan. 30.
In typical years, the process starts around the middle of the month.
The IRS has been updating forms and completing programming and testing of its processing system, which will reflect the bulk of the late tax law changes, according to an IRS media release issued last week.
