The Lancaster Dixie Baseball National League 7-year-old all-stars completed a sweep of the American League all-stars, taking a 22-9 win in five innings Monday night at Wylie Park field five.The Nationals opened the best-of-three series, taking a 13-3 victory on Saturday.The Nationals used a 10-run third inning to take control of the game.Griffin Gardner and John Michael Faile each had four singles to lead the NL stars’ win. Gardner scored three runs and Faile tallied a run.Gillis Robinson had three singles and scored twice. Austin Catoe clubbed an inside-the-park home run and also had a double.Tanner Belk, who had a strong game in left field for the victors, had three singles and scored two runs.Andrew Allen paced the American League all-stars with two doubles, a single and scored a run.Logan Phillips, Corey Wallace and Garrett Sweatt each had a double and a single. Sweatt scored twice, while Phillips and Wallace each tallied a run.In the National stars’ 10-run win on Saturday, Rick Gardner had a double with two runs batted in and scored a run. Gardner, the NL catcher, also made a fine defensive play with a good, close tag at the plate.In the 8-year-old AA stars tournament, the American League bounced back to even the series with a 19-9 win over the Nationals in four innings on Monday night.The NL stars captured a 15-10 win over the Americans in the series opener on Saturday.In the Americans’ win on Monday, Matthew Rivers drilled three hits and scored twice. Brandon Vincent had two doubles and a single and scored twice.Garrett Peagler added a triple for the AL.For the Nationals, Kendarius Thompson had two singles, a double and scored two runs.Austin Hannah and Ethan Ellis each had a double, single and scored a run.Anson Taylor delivered two singles and scored a run for the Nationals.Dylan Sistare rapped a triple and scored a run.The AA 8-year-old tournament concluded Tuesday with the National League stars edging the AL stars 12-11 for the city championship.See Friday’s edition for a roundup of the action.
