The 2010 Moriah youth basketball season is slated to begin play Nov. 22.
“We are gearing up for another exciting year of basketball,” said Sammy Macy, who coordinates the league. “We are looking forward to a lot of fun and fellowship.”
The league is open to any church and is open to boys and girls in grades 1-12.
The league is designed for Christian fellowship, recreation and outreach and stresses development of the players in their game skills.
The league is designed for sharing Christ’s spirit, love and mission with others and with sister churches through the players and coaches.
Grades 1-6 allow for boys and girls to play on the same team. Leagues are divided for grades 1-3 and grades 4-6. For grades 7-12, girls and boys play on separate teams.
Rosters and the entry fee of $175 are due on Monday at the Moriah Baptist Association office. Games are played on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights.
The 2009 league featured 53 teams playing in eight leagues and divisions.
“We had about 18,000 people attend the 320 regular-season games plus the tournament last year,” Macy said.
The league requires all coaches or an assistant to attend a mandatory coaches meeting in order to coach.
Macy said any coach who has not attended a meeting to contact him at email@example.com.
The league’s website is www.leaguelineup.com/moriahyouthbasketball, which had 35,600 visitors last season.
All schedules, rules, standings and other league information is on line.
A Facebook page listed as Moriah Youth Basketball has also been added.
League board members include Jimbo Barton, Neil Couch, Brent Porter and Macy.
