By Chris Sardelli

A Lancaster mother was arrested Thursday in Rock Hill in connection with the death of her 18-month-old son last week.
Yasika Sherreeka Patterson, 25, of 1999 Pinta Drive, was arrested May 26 for murder/ homicide by child abuse, according to a Lancaster County Sheriff's Office press release.
Patterson was arrested by the Rock Hill Police Department and transported to the Lancaster County Detention Center, the release said.
Major David Belk with the sheriff's office said the arrest warrant was issued May 26 and Patterson was found soon afterward in Rock Hill.
He said his department had information she was in that area and the arrest was related to the sheriff's office warrant. The warrant says the charge is related to the possible drowning death of her son.
According to the sheriff's office press release, Lancaster County Emergency Medical Services workers responded to a call at 1999 Pinta Drive at 1 p.m. May 19. They found Patterson's son, Randell McIlwain, unresponsive in a filled bathtub, the release said. The EMS workers began emergency life-saving measures, but they could not resuscitate the child, the release said.
Patterson has been transferred into the custody of the sheriff’s office and is being held without bond at the detention center.
The sheriff’s office and the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office are both continuing to investigate the death.
