If my memory serves me, Blondale Funderburk, who is running again against Charlene McGriffin in the Lancaster County Council District 2 race, was the one who knew nothing about the write-in campaign last year.
District 2 residents are paying close attention to what is going on in our district. We want someone who we know, see and has worked in our community. Mrs. McGriff is co-founder of Adopt-A-Leader Mentoring Program since 1992. This program has served our young men for years.
McGriff serves on several boards that benefit our community. She has been executive director of Palmetto Citizens Against Sexual Assault for 16 years.
Several years ago, Mrs. Funderburk opened up a child development center in front of First Washington Baptist Church. After a while it closed. What happened with that business? All of a sudden, she shows up last year as a candidate for district 2.
We need someone solid and knowledgeable about our community. Someone who has gone through struggles with us. Someone we see in the grocery store, church and community gatherings. Someone we can talk to about our concerns. Someone who will listen and knows what we are talking about and can get things done.
I am voting for Charlene McGriff and encourage everyone in District 2 to do the same.
