Indian Land High football coach Mike Mayer said the Warriors continue to make strides in their preseason play.

Mayer said he was encouraged by the Warriors’ effort in their third scrimmage at the IL Reservation on Thursday, Aug. 14 when IL faced Airport High.

“I was very pleased,” he said. “I felt our defense played extremely well. Our enthusiasm and intensity were great.”

The Warriors’ allowed one score which came on the final play of the scrimmage.

“I thought we had our best offensive performance in three scrimmages,” Mayer said.

“We were consistent and did a good job of moving the football,” he said.

Mayer said part of the scrimmage was devoted to the kicking game. Warriors’ senior Shea Rodgers continued his solid play with a 47-yard field goal and three 37-yarders.

“Shea continues to hit the ball well and is going to be a key weapon for us,” he said.

Indian Land caps scrimmage action as the Warriors play in the annual Founders Kickoff Classic on Friday, Aug. 22.
