Rescue workers have launched a massive search near Primus Crossroads for a 22-year-old missing man.
Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile identified the man as Jerrell White, whose last addresses include 180 Ranson Road, 922 Sherwood Circle and 805 Hudson St.
Faile said White was last seen at a home in the 4000 block of Pleasant Road about 1 a.m. Wednesday.
Deputies, EMS, Lancaster County Fire Rescue, volunteer firefighters and the county’s tactical team were combing the woods and pastures between the closed bridge on Pleasant Road and Fork Hill Road. A helicopter and tracking dogs are also involved in the search.
Faile said authorities haven’t been able to determine all the circumstances around White’s disappearance and it is not known if he is hurt.
“Right now, we don’t know all the details, other than he was last seen walking in the area,” Faile said about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the scene. “We have found his cell phone, but so far we haven’t found any traces of Mr. White.”
Faile said authorities were called just after noon Wednesday and immediately started searching for White.
White is 5-10 and weighs about 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a yellow and green jersey-type shirt.
Anyone who sees White or has information about White’s whereabouts should immediately call 911 or contact Jeff Jones of the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office at (803) 313-2134 or jjones@lacoso.net.
The county has also distributed information on White through its emergency notification system.
