Mangum seeks 6th straight street win

Lancaster Super Speedway returns to action Saturday, June 22 with a couple of notable streaks.

Veteran driver Timbo Mangum, who leads the points in three different track divisions, will be gunning for his sixth straight checkers in the Montgomery Towing Super Street Division.

Mangum has 340 points and six wins to lead the Super Street. Mangum leads the NDRA Late Models with 158 points. Mangum is also atop the Heintz Performance Late Models with 127 points.

In the Lancaster Speedway Vintage, Marty Spittle, who has three straight checkers, will start in the rear Saturday night as track rules state. Spittle will be doing some hard driving in his quest to capture his fourth straight Vintage victory. Spittle leads the Vintage points with 248 points and five wins this season.

Lancaster Super Speedway, in its 59th season, is back in action after a vacation break last week, June 15.

Action this week features the Heintz Performance Limited Late Models, Montgomery Towing Super Street, Deal 1 Auto Sale Crate Sportsman, Cauthen Motors Pure Street, Lancaster Speedway Vintage and M&M, Garage Muffler and Tire Extreme 4 (FWD)

The LSS division with the highest car count (determined from registration) will receive an extra $100 on first  place. In order to prevent someone from registering a car that is not racing, the cars must be present for hot laps or heat races.

Track officials have also set a $100 new winner bonus in every division.

Gates open for the pits at 4 p.m. and 5 for the grandstands.

Admission is $20 for the pits and $12 for the grandstands.

If you missed any of the racing action from any race this season, Jackie Sims will have DVDs for sale in the pits and grandstands for $10.

Lancaster Super Speedway is located four miles north of Lancaster off U.S. 521. Turn right on Shiloh-Unity Road and follow a short distance to the track on the left.

In the Crate Sportsman Division points, Jeffrey McGuirt has 344 to lead the division. McGuirt and Hank Taylor have each posted four checkers. Josh Langley leads the Pure Street with 354 points and eight wins.

In the UCAR, David “Pork Chop” Motes has amassed 326 points to lead the division. David Laney has racked up four wins.
