Lancaster police are still looking to make an arrest in a Dec. 21 incident in which a Lancaster man was shot in the stomach.

Police responded to a call to a shooting around 9 p.m and found the man on the ground behind an abandoned home on Hazel Street.

A witness told police that he heard shots fired and saw a man running and screaming that he had been shot, according to an incident report.

Other witnesses said they heard about 10 shots and saw both the victim and another man shooting at each other, the report said.

The victim was shot in the lower right area of his stomach.

The bullet exited from his back, the report said.

He was flown to Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia. His status was not available late last week.

No arrests had been made as of late last week.

"We do have a person of interest," Lt. James Kirk said. "He and that guy had some problems in the past."

If you know anything about this incident, you are asked to call the Lancaster Police Department at 283-1171 or 283-3313.
