A Lancaster man is in critical condition after he was shot in his face and chest Sunday evening at his Elm Street home.

The man, 36, and his wife were in their bedroom when they heard a noise come from the back door, according to a Lancaster Police Department incident report.

When the man went to the back door, several gunshots rang out, the woman told police. She ran to the back door and saw him on the ground bleeding from the face.

The incident happened about 7:50 p.m.

The man was shot under each eye, on the left side of the chest above the heart and on his left shoulder, the report said.

He also had an exit wound in the lower part of his back, the report said.

The man was flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. A hospital spokeswoman said Monday afternoon that he was in critical condition.

The victim’s wife told police she didn’t know who shot her husband, but said he had a recent dispute with a man, whose name isn’t being released by police.

This man isn’t considered a suspect,  Police Capt. Harlean Howard said.

No arrests been made.
