Police are searching for more details in the armed robbery and attack of a Lancaster man on Sunday, Feb. 16.
Officers responded at about 1:18 p.m. to the 500 block of E. Dunlap St. about a report of an armed robbery, according to a Lancaster Police Department incident report.
The 57-year-old victim told officers the attack happened just after midnight when a man he knew hit him in the back of his head with a stick. The attacker also stole the victim’s wallet, which contained $30, the report said.
The victim said he was standing at the front door of his home and saw the attacker walking by. After calling him over to talk to him, the attacker struck him in the back of the head, the report said.
“(The victim) stated that he then fell into his house and onto the floor and could not get up,” an officer wrote in the report.
As he lay on the ground, the attacker stole his wallet and then ran away, the report said. The victim told officers he could not get up, so a friend had to come help him up.
He reported seeing the man run away north on Ferguson Street.
Officers did not see any noticeable injuries to the victim’s head and he was not taken to a hospital for treatment.
Investigators later spoke to the alleged attacker, though he denied an attack happened. The case was still active pending an investigation, the report said.
It was unknown if anyone has been charged or arrested in the case. Requests for information or updates about the armed robbery from the police department were not answered by The Lancaster News’ deadline.
