Man faces gun charges

A search for the source of several gunshots heard in a Lancaster neighborhood Jan. 18 led to the arrest of a Charlotte man on two firearms charges.

Jesse Smith, 37, was arrested on charges of unlawful carrying of a pistol and discharging a firearm in the city, according to a Lancaster Police Department incident report.

The arrest came minutes after an officer heard three gunshots coming from the area of East Arch Street and Pardue Circle. As the officer approached the area, he heard three more gunshots and radioed for backup, the report said.
