A Kershaw man was killed after he was hit by a car driven by a Heath Springs woman Tuesday morning.

Robert Alan Wilson, 61, of Kershaw, died at the scene of the accident from blunt force trauma, said Kershaw County Coroner Johnny Fellers.

The accident happened at 7:05 a.m. Tuesday as Wilson walked south on U.S. 521 at Youngs Bend Road in Kershaw County. Wilson was hit by a 2005 Nissan driven by Deborah Walker, 53, of Heath Springs, who was also traveling south on U.S. 521, said Lance Cpl. Josef Robinson, with the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Robinson said Walker was passing another vehicle when she struck Wilson with the front left side of her car. Wilson was wearing dark, non-reflective clothing, according to Robinson.

Walker was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the accident, and there were no passengers in the car, Robinson said.

The Highway Patrol's Multi-disciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) team is investigating the crash.
