Man argues his arrest as sex offender was unfair

INDIAN LAND – An Indian Land man says Lancaster County sheriff's deputies wrongfully arrested him on May 26.

Robert Steven Smith, 39, of 7362 Charlotte Highway, was charged by the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office on May 26 with failure to register as a sex offender.

Smith said he established his residence in Lancaster County on May 19. But the sheriff's office says he moved here on May 13, Smith said.
