LSWCD announce winners of photo contests

Soil and Water Conservation District

The Lancaster Soil and Water Conservation District announced the winners of its 2012-13 Conservation Photo contests.

LSWCD held two photo contests during the current school year for all high school students in the county.

The contest was divided into four categories: Conservation In Action, Conservation Practices, Agriculture and Conservation Across America and Close Up Conservation.

Photos were judged on technical merit and composition.

The first-place winners received a $20 gift card and second-place winners received a $15 gift card.

The fall 2012 contest winners are:

  • Conservation In Action

First place: Brandi Reed – “The Butterfly Effect,” Indian Land High School

Second place: Lyric Spencer – “Alone On A Path,” Indian Land High School

  • Ag/Conservation Across America

First place: Brandi Reed – “The Power Of Soy,” Indian Land High School

Second place: Gia Donato – “Couple In Tranquility,” Indian Land High School

  • Close Up Conservation

First place: Brandi Reed – “Mr. Frog,” Indian Land High School

Second place: Alexandria Trask – “Making A Stamen,” Indian Land High School

  • Conservation Practices

First place: Kristen Starnes – “Peeking Through A Whole,” Indian Land High School

Second place: Brandi Reed – “A Field At Rest,” Indian Land High School

The spring 2013 contest winners  are:

  • Ag/Conservation Across America

First place: Liana Stoddard – “Budding In The Big City,” Indian Land High School

Second place: Dallas Erwin – “Chicken Steps: One Foot After The Other,”Indian Land High School

  • Conservation In Action

First place: Ericka Strange – “The Break Of Day,” Indian Land High School

Second place: Crystal Sesta – “Sammi,” Indian Land High School

  • Conservation Practices

First place: Dallas Erwin – “Future Fries,” Indian Land High School

Second place: Matt Cook – “Sideshow,” Indian Land High School

  • Close Up Conservation

First place: Kasey Adkins – “Raindrop Crystals On A Daffodil,” Indian Land High School

Second place: Noah Bradley – “Graceful Blooming,” Indian Land High School

An award was also given to the teacher with most participation, Robin Champion of Indian Land High School. She received a $40 gift card.
