PAGELAND – A 19-year-old Lancaster man was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and three teenagers were charged with underage drinking after a Pageland officer noticed suspicious activity at Grits and Groceries on Nov. 5.
Officer Albert Parsons noticed that 19-year-old Ricky “June” Baxter looked his way and ducked behind an SUV and then got into a two-door Chevrolet when he passed, a report said.
The officer parked out of sight and snuck up on the car, where he saw Baxter and the driver putting beer cans down on the floorboard, the report said. He called for backup since there were five people in the car.
Sgt. Clarence Francis arrived.
In a search of the car, officers found a gallon plastic bag containing marijuana, four sandwich bags of marijuana and a digital scale covered in marijuana residue. Baxter was carrying a baggie of marijuana, $490 in cash and a Vicodin tablet, reports said.
A passenger in the back, Stephen Randall Clark, 17, of Lancaster, also had a small amount of marijuana and a Vicodin tablet, police said. He was charged with simple possession and possession of a controlled substance.
Kendell Deon Miller, 20, of 463 Miller Road, Jefferson, was charged with underage possession of beer, the report said.
