Lightning earns nationals bid

The Palmetto Lightning earned a bid to the AAU National Tournament in Clarksville, Tenn., winning the Super Regional basketball tournament in Greenville on March 25-27.

The Lightning took the tournament championship with a 57-16 win over the Carolina Cougars.

Malia Rivers led the winners with 17. Amirah Steward scored 12 and Alexis Williams netted 10. Elizabeth Scott tallied six. Deja Patterson and Hayden Thorne each had four points.

Summer Vick and Zaria Woods added two points each.

The Lightning earned a bid to the title game with a 47-17 win over the Lowcountry Ballers white team.

Alexis Williams led the Lightning with nine points. Summer Vick, Amirah Steward and Malia Rivers each had seven points. Keyotta Garris hit six and Elizabeth Scott finished with five points. Deja Patterson, Zaria Woods and Hayden Thorne netted two points each.

In pool play, the Lightning went 3-0.

The PL girls topped the Lowcountry Ballers purple team in a 62-29 win. Elizabeth Scott hit 17.

Malia Rivers hit 10 and Summer Vick netted eight. Keyotta Garris finished with seven and Deja Patterson scored six. Hayden Thorne hit five and Alexis Williams chipped in four. Amirah Steward supplied three and Zaria Woods chipped in two points.

The Lightning rolled over the Lowcountry Ballers white team, posting a 56-30 victory.

Malia Rivers sparked the win with 16 points. Elizabeth Scott scored nine and Alexis Williams hit eight.

Hayden Thorne tallied seven and Deja Patterson finished with six. Amirah Steward and Summer Vick each netted four points. Keyotta Garris had two points.

The Lightning rolled over the Carolina Cougars in a 49-26 triumph.

 Malia Rivers led the winners with 13 and Amirah Steward scored 11. Alexis Williams finished with eight. Summer Vick and Hayden Thorne each scored six. Deja Patterson hit three and Zaria Woods chipped in two points.
