Library staff to be commended

I would like to thank Richard Band and the staff of our local library for another successful summer reading program. It started with the Literacy Fair, which was great fun for everyone. There were free balloons, games and tickets to spend on hot dogs, dri-nks, cotton candy and more.

The front yard of the library was filled with lots of booths with information and free books to encourage reading. There were lots of goodies kids love.

“Ms. Brenda” Parker and her puppeteers presented fun stories inside the library.

Most importantly was a time to sign up for the reading program which is reading and getting rewards for succeeding in reading the allotted amount of time. What a great way to encourage reading. Reading is a necessity and also a pleasure that we can enjoy for a lifetime.

These programs  were provided by the library each Tuesday; a magician, marionettes, a storyteller, a ventriloquist and stories with Ms. Brenda. These are wonderful opportunities that the library provided for our children to experience different ways a story can be presented and how much fun it can be.

Then the final reward was a pizza party to celebrate the 15 hours of reading each participant completed.

My grandchildren are always excited to be involved in the summer reading program. They are proud of the six medals they have earned.

Thanks again to our library staff for a job well done.
