LHS golfers split
The Lancaster Lady Bruins’ golf team split a three-way match with Hartsville and McBee on Sept. 20.
Hartsville topped the field with a 169. LHS shot a 184 and McBee posted a 201. Emily Cox led the LHS girls with a 41. Alexandria McCain and Carley Snyder each posted a 46.
Madison Sullivan had a 51. Rachel Hovis and Ina Roberts each carded a 53. Carly Funderburk followed with a 54. Kylie Rogers-Carpenter had a 59.
“I’m proud of the girls in this match as we had a rough start early in the match,” said coach Scott Roberts. “As I went around checking the players status they were all unhappy with their current play.
“In the end, they came in with a lot lower score than I expected. I’m more pleased with this round than the 173 because it shows them what they are made of and we’ll need that throughout regional and state competitions.”
On Sept. 12, LHS topped Clover, 173-210. The Lady Bruins’ 173 set a team record. Alexandria McCain led the way with a 40. Carley Snyder followed with a 43 and Emily Cox had a 44. Carly Funderburk shot a 46. Madison Sullivan had a 50 and Rachel Hovis carded a 51. Ina Roberts finished with a 53 and Kylie Rogers-Carpenter shot 58.
“The girls all did their part in this match keeping big mistakes off the scorecard and managing their games well,” Roberts said.
