The Lancaster Lady Bruins rolled to a 27-2 win in five innings over the Spartanburg Lady Vikings in prep softball action at Spartanburg on Friday night.
The game was halted in the fifth inning due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Katy Ghent, in five innings, hurled the win as she faced 21 batters and allowed two runs and three hits. She fanned five batters in the victory.
Ghent aided her cause with two hits, including a three-run home run, to go with three RBIs and three runs scored.
Elizabeth Gaston generated four hits, including a triple, drove in three runs and scored three runs. Erin Walker rapped four hits, tallied twice and drove home four runs.
Claire Brown ripped four hits, with four runs batted in and tallied four runs.
Kaela Robinson registered four hits, scored four runs and drove in two runs. Robinson’s plate effort included three doubles and a triple.
Jada Adams supplied three hits, scored four runs and drove in a run.
Pagan Glenn contributed two hits, scored two runs and drove in four runs.
Porter Sistare supplied two hits, two runs and drove in a run.
Madyson Taylor smashed a double, scored a run and drove in two runs. Kailee Glover had a hit, scored twice and had a RBI.
Savannah Revels had a hit to boost the Lancaster offense.
“Our girls are peaking at the right time and part of that effort is how we’ve had some junior varsity girls step up in a big way for us,” LHS coach Kim Perry said.
The Lady Bruins hosted Spartanburg in a rematch Tuesday. LHS will also host Clover on Friday in a game to decide the region crown.
In a key clash Thursday, Class AA’s top-rated AJ Lady Volunteers will host county and region rival Buford in a prep softball game to likely decide the league crown. Buford hosts Indian Land on Friday.
