The Lancaster High School girls’ cross country team has qualified for the state meet for the third straight season.
The Lady Bruins finished sixth overall at the state qualifier to qualify for the third year in a row.
The LHS girls’ effort for the state bid included Jenae Jones (19:43), Jennell Jones (20:48), Jazmyne Jones (21:05), Eden Christopher (21:20), Tyson Blanton (21:29), Racquel Mullis (21:45) and Reagan Latham (22:03).
The state championship meet is Saturday at the Sandhills course in Columbia.
“Congrats to them and the rest of the LHS girls team for their hard work this season,” LHS coach Josh Pauling said.
The rest of the LHS girls team includes Tori McDowell (25:16), Amy Vernon (26:38), Olivia Ingram (29:47) and Eve Goodwin (33:43).
At the state qualifier meet at Sandhills in Columbia on Saturday Oct. 27, the Lancaster High School boys team finished ninth out of 20 teams.
“Congrats to the team on their progress this year,” Pauling said. “Our returners did a great job pacing the group this season.”
Returners this season with their season-best times were: Jonathan Reid (17:56), Tyler Thompson (18:18), Herbert Jones (19:07), Cole Bailey (19:24), Ellison Hagins (20:45), Trevor Latham (21:12), Josiah Shrum (21:15), Toby Faile (23:37), Matthew Goebel (33:20).
Newcomers this season included Taylor Willis (17:51), Patrick Rutledge (19:24), Trey Mullis (22:44), Randall Ames (23:31), Michael Duffell-Hoffman (24:59), Harrison Latham (25:44) on finishing their season well.
IL teams in state meet
The Indian Land boys cross country team placed seventh in the Class AA Upper State meet Saturday, Oct. 27, at Hillcrest High School.
The IL boys qualified as a team and three IL runners boys qualified individually as well: James Gregory, who placed sixth with a time of 17:04; Matthew Hajek, 35th at 18:55; and Landon Cook, 44th at 19:35. Will Chapman, James Hagerty, Finn Hagerty and Ian Frais all ran at Upper State.
The IL boys and girls teams will compete in the state meet Saturday, Nov. 3, at Sandhills Research Center in Columbia. The IL girls will run at noon and boys 12:30 p.m.
