The Lancaster High School golf team capped regular-season play with a 9-3 record after defeating Region III-AAAA foe Northwestern High School at Watorford Park Golf Club in Rock Hill.
LHS carded a 169 to Northwestern’s 229.
The LHS girls were led by Alexandria McCain and Emily Cox, who each posted a 40. Carly Funderburk notched a 44 and Ina Roberts had a 45.
Rachel Hovis had a 48 and Carley Snyder posted a 53.
“Our girls played a great round on Thursday,” said Lancaster coach Scott Roberts. “That gives us a little momentum heading into the region tournament on Monday at the Lancaster Golf Club.”
The seven girls represent four different Lancaster County schools on the LHS team.
The girls include Carly Funderburk of Lancaster High School, Alexandria McCain of Indian Land High School, Rachel Hovis, Ina Roberts, Carley Snyder, Madison Sullivan all of Andrew Jackson Middle School and Kylee Rogers-Carpenter from A.R. Rucker Middle School.
Following the regional tournament, Lancaster will play in the Class AAAA Upper State tournament in Spartanburg on Oct. 17.
