LHS downs York, earns bid

The Lancaster Bruins’ baseball team made LHS senior night memorable, taking a 5-1 Region III-AAAA win over York to earn a Class AAAA playoff bid Monday night.

Senior hurler Jordan Brock, in a complete-game effort, tossed a one-hitter and fanned seven in the four-run win. Brock, a right-hander, walked one and hit a batter.

Brock also had three hits, including two singles and a double.

Senior Khory Phillips snapped a 1-all draw with a two-run home run in the second for a 3-1 LHS edge. Grayson Snipes supplied two hits and drove in a run. Gabe Glover generated a hit and scored a run. Trey Payne had a sacrifice fly RBI.

Brandon Cato delivered a triple and tallied a run. Wyatt Duncan supplied a double. Marshall Jackson added a RBI-hit. Cody Cooper tallied a run.

Lancaster opens the Class AAAA Upper State playoffs as the Bruins travel to Pontiac on Thursday for a first-round playoff game with Spring Valley in the District II playoffs.

Vols blank Lions

Playoff-bound Andrew Jackson posted its fourth straight shutout as the Vols blanked Lewisville, the No 5 team in Class A baseball, in a 2-0 win at Richburg on Monday, April 22.

The AJ ace trio of Kipp Rollings (two innings), Austin Wrape (three innings) and Tripp Rollings conbined on the shutout. Wrape was the winner and Tripp Rollings earned the save.

The Vols struck for two first-inning runs on the way to the win. Tripp Rollings, Kipp Rollings, Gunnar Lucas and Sidney Watson each had a hit to key the Volunteers’ win.

AJ, 13-10, 5-5, visits Pelion to open the Class AA Upper State playoffs on Thursday.

The Vols evened their region mark at 5-5 with a 1-0 win over Central of Pageland on AJ senior baseball night on Saturday, April 20.

Chandler Neal, who worked six innings, was the winner. He fanned five and allowed three walks and three hits. Austin Wrape earned the save.

Tripp Rollings’ solo home run in the fourth was the lone run AJ needed for the win. Corley Faulkenberry had two hits. Wrape and Seth Graves each had a hit.

The AJ marked the final regular-season home game for Tripp Rollings, Chandler Neal, Seth Graves, Daniel Faulkenberry and Sidney Watson.

Warriors down Jackets

Indian Land capped an 8-8 season with a 2-0 home win over county and region rival Buford on Monday, April 22.

Jake Dyer went seven frames for the IL win, allowing three hits, a walk and hit a batter. He fanned five Jackets.

Chris Cantrell led IL with a hit, RBI and scored a run. Justin Hayes had a hit and a RBI.

Chuck Webb had a hit and Connor Butler scored a run.

BHS’s Kholby Pate took the loss, three hits, two runs, and three walks. He fanned six.

Buford, 4-18, 1-6, had a hit each from Evan Flynn, Tripp Wright and Scotti Moser.
