Late Models, fireworks featured at LSS track on Saturday night

Lancaster Super Speedway will host the 1st Franklin Financial Firecracker Spectacular on Saturday, July 5 at the half-mile dirt oval.

The event will be highlighted by a major fireworks during intermission.

In addition to the fireworks, the LSS racing card will feature the Late Models, formerly known as Limited Late Models (Limited Late Models plus CT525 plus GM604) with $1,000 to win.

The card also has the Deal 1 Auto Sales Crate Sportsman, with $800 to win and $200 to the highest finishing non-winner from the 2014 racing campaign.

The track schedule will also feature the Super Street $800 to win and $200 to the highest finishing non-winner from 2014, Pro Street, U.S. Bonding Vintage, M&M Garage Extreme 4 and RWD4 (Rear Wheel Drive 4-Cylinders).

Each division must have eight or more cars to race or the purse will be adjusted.

The kids candy drop sponsor will be Extreme 4 driver Kayla Pettit and her crew.

Pettit drives the No. 14K.

Track gates open in the grandstands at 5 p.m. and 4 p.m. for the pits.

Admission is $12 for the grandstands and $20 for the pits.

Fans, who missed any racing action from June 21, can contact Jackie Sims for DVDs which will be on sale in he pits for $10. LSS didn’t run last week, June 28, after a late afternoon thunderstorm washed out the action.

LSS, in its 60th racing season with the 2014 campaign, is located four miles north of Lancaster off U.S. 521.

Turn right on Shiloh Unity Road and follow a short distance to the track on the left. Parking is available at the track.
