Lancers top Limestone for first baseball win

The University of South Carolina at Lancaster notched its first baseball win of the 2013 season, taking a 13-2 win over the Limestone junior varsity on Wednesday, Feb. 6 in Gaffney.

The Lancers, who dropped two losses to USC Salkehatchie on Sunday, built a 6-1 lead after three innings on the way to the 11-run win.

Byron Haag had three hits, including a home run and a double, and drove in three runs and scored three runs.

Randy Luckett drilled three hits, including a triple, scored two runs and drove in a run.

Kal  Davis had a home run and a single and drove in four runs.

Brantley Rumford had a single and a triple.

Heath Hagler rapped a double and drove in two runs. Nick Sergakis doubled and scored twice. Chaztin Venezia also drilled a double.

Jacob Murphy had a hit, drove in a run and scored a run. Wade Adruini tallied two runs.

Dylan Parker posted the win, hurling five frames and allowing seven hits, a run and no walks. He fanned five.

Josh Wright pitched the final three innings and allowed two hits, a run and a walk. Wright whiffed two Junior Saints.

Lancaster opens its home schedule with two games Sunday when it faces USC-Salkehatchie at 1 and 3 p.m.
