The University of South Carolina Lancaster Lancers capped a four-game series (two twin bills) with an 11-7 win over the Florence-Darlington Tech Stingers in the opener on Sunday, April 14.
In the four-run win, the Lancers lashed 15 hits.
Wade Arduini, the winning hurler, drilled three hits, including a double, and drove in a run.
Arduini, in posting the win, went six frames and allowed six hits, seven runs, four earned and three walks. He struck out four.
Randy Luckett drilled two hits, including a home run, and drove in two runs. Heath Hagler had two hits and drove in two runs.
Brantley Rumford rapped two hits, including a double. Chaztin Venezia had two hits and drove in a run.
Byron Haag had two hits and drove in two runs. Jacob Murphy supplied a hit and drove in a run. Bryan Dye added a hit.
Travis Shelley went an inning and allowed a walk in relief of Arduini.
In the nightcap, Florence-Darlington took a 10-5 win over USCL.
Brantley Rumford had two hits, including a home run, and drove in a run.
Byron Haag had two hits, including a double. Randy Luckett smashed a solo home run.
Patrick Burt banged a RBI-double. Heath Hagler had a hit and Chaztin Venezia drove in a run.
Blake Shirley worked 2.1 innings and allowed four hits, four runs, three earned runs and two walks. He fanned one. Kyle Nyenhuis worked two-thirds of an inning and gave up a hit, run and a walk.
Kyle Pressley hurled two frames and allowed a hit and two walks. He fanned two.
Taylor Cook pitched two thirds of an inning and yielded five hits and four runs. Ricky Lewis, in 1.1 innings, gave up a hit and whiffed one.
The Lancers, 16-22, 9-13 in Region X play, hit the road this weekend for two doubleheaders with Pitt Community College on April 20-21 in Greenville, N.C., where games each day are at 1 p.m. and 3.
