Lancers sweep Junior Saints

The University of South Carolina Lancaster Lancers upped their baseball record to 19-8 with a home sweep of the Limestone junior varsity on Thursday, March 20 at the Lancaster High baseball field.

The Lancers drilled 15 hits on the way to a 12-5 win over the Junior Saints in the opener.

Mitchell Price led USCL with two hits, including a home run, and drove in two runs.

Casey Parker produced two hits, including a solo home run, and drove in a run.

Patrick Burt ripped two doubles and drove in two runs. Jordan Williams rapped two doubles.

Ranz Bodison laced two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.

Derek Croxton and Bryan Dye each had two hits and one RBI. Tad Martin smashed a run-scoring double. Zach Callahan had a sacrifice fly to drive in a run and Jonah Crenshaw tallied a run in the win.

Ryan Manore was the winning hurler to even his mark to 1-1 with a save this season.

In the nightcap, USC Lancaster capped the sweep with an 8-3 win over the Junior Saints.

Zach Callahan had a solid day at the plate, belting a grand slam and a double. He had four runs batted in for the Lancers.

Bryan Dye delivered a hit and drove in two runs.

Casey Parker ripped a double and drove in a run, while Jordan Williams had a RBI-double.

Derek Croxton, Mitchell Price, Drew Graydon and Chase Haas each had a hit for the winners.

Sam Pruitt, 2-0, went two frames for the win, allowing two hits, with two strikeouts.

Kyle Baldwin went an inning, giving up a hit and a walk. He fanned one batter in his outing.

Nathan Elliott, in an inning of work, yielded two hits and a run. He fanned one.

Bryan Drager went an inning and whiffed one. He allowed a hit and a walk.

Rooke Crouch went two-thirds of an inning and gave up two runs, two earned runs and five walks. He struck out one.

Matthew Justice hurled 1.1 frames and whiffed four, with one hit allowed.

The Lancers, in Region X play this weekend, visited USC Sumter on Saturday for a twin bill.

USCL faces Sumter for two games today, Sunday, March 23, to cap the four-game series with the host Fire Ants.
