USCL takes 3 of 4 at Salkehatchie

The University of South Carolina Lancaster Lancers capped a four-game weekend series with USC-Salkehatchie, sweeping the host Indians on Sunday, March 30 in Allendale.

The Lancers, 26-11, 10-4, split the Saturday, March 29 twin bill, but rebounded to down the Indians, 6-4, 11-2 on Sunday, March 30.

In the series finale, the Lancers drilled 19 hits on the way to the nine-run win.

Tad Martin paced a potent USCL offense with four hits, including a double.

Bryan Dye rapped three hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.

Derek Croxton supplied two hits, including a double, and drove in three runs.

Jordan Williams drilled two hits, including a double, and drove in a pair of runs.

Ryan Manore had two hits and two RBIs. Casey Parker contributed two hits, including a double. Patrick Burt had two hits.

Jonah Crenshaw, the former Lancaster High baseball standout, drilled a triple and Mitchell Price added a hit.

Chris Stewart, 4-1, went four innings for the win, allowing five hits, two runs, two earned runs and a walk. He fanned three. Josh Shailer hurled three frames and gave up two hits.

USCL opened the Sunday sweep with a 6-4 win over the Indians as the Lancers drilled nine hits in the two-run victory.

Jordan Williams and Casey Parker each rapped two hits and drove in two runs. Mitchell Price had a hit and drove home a run. Ranz Bodison smashed a double.

Derek Croxton, Ryan Manore and Tommy Winterstein each added a hit for USCL.

Austin Hill, 2-2, went seven innings for the win, yielding eight hits, four runs, one earned run and two walks. He struck out eight.

The Lancers opened the Saturday twin bill, taking a 1-0 win over the Indians.

Bryan Dye’s RBI-single scored Tad Martin in the fifth inning for the only run of the game. Dye had two hits with a RBI.

Tyler Jackson, 4-1, went the distance, allowing five hits and striking out 12.

Jordan Williams produced two hits and Casey Parker and Mitchell Price each had a double.

In game two, the USCS Indians notched their only win, posting an 8-5 victory over USCL.

Ranz Bodison led the Lancers’ offense with two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.

Derek Croxton had two hits, including a double.

Bryan Dye and Patrick Burt each had two hits.

Zach Callahan had a hit and drove in a run. Jordan Williams added a RBI.

Tanner Petrey, 3-4, took the loss in an inning of work. He allowed three hits, five runs and five earned runs.

Matthew Justice went three innings, yielding three hits, three runs and one earned run. He fanned four.

Ben Taylor, in 1.1 innings, allowed three hits and struck out two.

Sam Pruitt went two-thirds of an inning and whiffed one.

The Lancers are home this weekend, hosting Louisburg College on Saturday, April 5-6, with each twin bill slated to begin at 1 p.m. at the Lancaster High School baseball field.
