Lancers go 1-2 in Region X tournament

The University of South Carolina Lancaster Lancers went 1-2 in the Region X baseball tournament at the Burlington Royals Stadium in Burlington, N.C.

USC Sumter, which defeated USCL twice in the double-elimination tournament, ended the Lancers’ season with a 7-2 win.

Andrew Ansley, 2-3, went 3.2 innings and took the loss. He allowed three runs, five hits and a walk. Ansley fanned three.

Kyle Downs went a frame and allowed a hit and a walk. Cam Baker pitched an inning and gave up a run and three hits. He whiffed one. Jacob Hill hurled 1.1 frames and yielded three runs, three hits and two walks. He fanned one.

Casey Cooper pitched an inning and gave up two walks.

Cory Frye led the offense with a single and a double. Casey Cooper had two hits and drove in a run.

Beau Brooks added two hits. Casey Seay and Will Simpson each smashed a double.

Trey Deason, Seth Johnson and Richie Poston each had a hit.

The Lancers, in their third season of baseball, went 19-25.

The Lancers stayed alive in the tournament with a 10-2 win over Florence Darlington Tech.

Trevor Hammond, 4-3, went seven frames for the win. He struck out six and allowed no walks.

Hammond walked only seven batters on the season. He gave up two runs – one earned and seven hits.

Casey Seay led the offense with two hits, including a solo homer.

Tripp Faulk and Cory Frye each had two hits and a RBI. Will Simpson supplied two hits. Brandon Faulkenberry had a hit and two RBIs. Seth Johnson had a hit and drove in a run.

Casey Cooper and Beau Brooks each had a RBI.

USCL opened play, dropping a 5-2 setback to USCSumter.

Dylan Parker, in 7.2 innings, took the loss to drop his mark to 3-5. He fanned 10 and gave up eight hits, two walks and five runs – four earned.

Cam Baker worked a third of an inning and walked one.

Trey Deason led the offense with a single and a double.

Casey Cooper and Casey Seay each had a RBI-hit. Cory Frye, Tripp Faulk, Richie Poston and Seth Johnson each added a hit.
