Lancers down Fire Ants in Region X tournament

The University of South Carolina Lancaster Lancers stayed alive in the Region X baseball tournament, taking a 7-1 win over the USC Sumter Fire Ants on Tuesday, May 7 in Burlington, N.C.
Wade Arduini was the winning hurler, working 8.1 innings, allowing seven hits and three walks. He fanned five and allowed a run.
Logan Segee worked two-thirds of an inning in scoreless relief.
Nick Sergakis led the 10-hit Lancers’ offense with three hits and a RBI. Arduini had two hits and drove in two runs and scored a run. Brantley Rumford registered a hit and drove in a run.
Randy Luckett, Byron Haag and Jacob Murphy each had a hit and tallied a run.
Ryan Manore added a hit for the winners, who are 19-27 on the season.
The USC Lancaster Lancers split their first two games in the Region X tournament in Burlington, N.C.
USCL fell to Spartanburg Methodist, 6-5 in 11 innings on Saturday, May 4, but rebounded to down USC Salkehatchie, 12-2 in an elimination game on Sunday, May 5.
Chris Stewart was the winner in the victory over the USCS Indians.
Stewart, in eight frames, allowed three hits, two runs, one earned run and a walk. He fanned two.
Brantley Rumford, a second team all-region pick, had two hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs. Wade Arduini and Nick Sergakis each had a double and drove home two runs. Byron Haag, a first-team all-region catcher, had a double and drove in a run. Bryan Dye and Jacob Murphy each had a hit. Chaztin Venezia drove in two runs.
Randy Luckett was a second-team all-region pick and named to the region’s golden glove team.
In the loss to SMC, Travis Shelley, who went 1.2 frames, took the loss. He gave up three hits, a walk and a run. Dylan Parker went nine frames and allowed eight hits, five runs, four earned runs and two walks. He fanned seven.
Brantley Rumford had three hits, including a double. Heath Hagler drilled two doubles and drove in a run.
Wade Arduini and Jacob Murphy each had two hits hits and drove in a run.
Chaztin Venezia supplied two hits. Randy Luckett supplied a hit and a RBI.
Byron Haag and Nick Segakis each had a hit for USCL.
