For the third straight series, the University of South Carolina Lancaster baseball team posted a win to dodge a Region X sweep.
The Lancers, 30-15, 12-12, won the Sunday opener at the Lancaster High School baseball field where they took a 4-2 win over Pitt Community College.
Stuart Pound, 5-3, went the distance, notching 10 strikeouts and allowing two runs, five hits and two walks.
Kyle Towles led the USCL offense with a single and a double and drove in a run. Casey Cooper clubbed a two-run home run and Randy Luckett smashed a solo homer.
Byron Haag and Jacob Murphy each had a double. Chaztin Venezia had a hit.
The Bulldogs completed the series with an 8-6 win over the Lancers.
Travis Shelley worked an inning in relief and took the loss, allowing three runs, three hits and fanned one.
Brandon Faulkenberry worked a scoreless inning in relief. Logan Segee went 1.2 innings and yielded two runs and three walks. He fanned two.
John McClure went 3.1 innings and yielded a hit and two walks. He struck out one. Andrew Ansley, the USCL starter, gave up three runs two hits and two walks.
Randy Luckettt belted a grand slam to lead the USCL offense. Kyle Towles, Casey Cooper and Chaztin Venezia each had a hit.
The Lancers dropped two games Saturday to open the series, falling 8-4 and 6-2.
In the opening loss, Casey Cooper, who took the loss, went 5.2 frames and gave up eight runs, nine hits and a walk. He had a strikeout.
Ritchie Robinson went 1.1 innings and yielded a walk.
Jacob Murphy led the USCL offense with a three-run homer. Kyle Towles and Casey Cooper each had a hit. Jared Huffman had a RBI.
Pitt won game two with a 6-3 victory.
Kyle Downs worked five innings and yielded eight hits, five runs – four earned runs and walked two. He fanned two.
Ben Keane worked an inning and gave up three hits. Brandon Faulkenberry pitched an inning and gave up a walk. He fanned one.
Jacob Murphy had two hits, including a two-run homer and a double.

Randy Luckett drilled a RBI-double. Casey Cooper, Jared Huffman, Stewart Pound and Brantley Rumford each had a hit.
The Lancers close regular-season play as they host Guilford Tech at the LHS field on Saturday and Sunday.
Games each day are at 1 and 3 p.m.
