Lancers 4th in Region X play

The University of South Carolina Lancers’ baseball team finished fourth in regular-season Region X play after a pair of rainouts on Saturday, April 19.

The Lancers are 30-17, including a 14-9 region mark

The Lancers dropped both ends of a NJCAA Region X twin bill to visiting Pitt Community College at the Lancaster High School baseball field on Friday, April 18.

The Lancers, who dropped three losses in four game with Region X foe Florence-Darlington Tech on April 12-13, fell to the Pitt Community College Bulldogs, 9-0 and 8-3.

Zach Callahan had the lone Lancers’ hit in the opener with Pitt Community College on Friday.

Austin Hill, in 5.1 innings of work, yielded six hits, eight runs, six earned runs and two walks. He had two strikeouts in taking the loss.

Bryan Drager worked two-thirds of an inning and allowed a hit.

Tommy Winterstein went an inning and gave up a run and had a strikeout.

The Lancers, in game two, dropped an 8-3 loss to the Bulldogs.

Ryan Manore and Mitchell Price each had two hits for the Lancers.

Casey Parker blasted a solo home run in the loss.

Tad Martin, Ranz Bodison, Chase Haas and Patrick Burt each added a hit for USCL.

Tanner Petrey, the game two losing hurler, went five innings and yielded nine hits, six runs, five earned runs and a walk. Petrey posted one strikeout. Matthew Justice went an inning and gave up three hits, one run, one earned run. He had one whiff. Sam Pruitt, in an inning of work, allowed two hits and a run.

The Lancers were slated to host Pitt in a twin bill on Saturday afternoon.

The Lancers’ Region X series are played on Saturday and Sunday, but with Easter last Sunday, Region X opted to play the weekend series on Friday and Saturday this week.

The Lancers are slated to visit Spartanburg Methodist College on Saturday, April 26.

The Lancers are slated to play Spartanburg Methodist at home on Sunday, April 27. Both games are set for 1 p.m.
