University of South Carolina women’s soccer player Cyndle McGuinness, a freshman out of Gilbert, has been honored as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Player of the Week.

She is the second Lancers player to earn the honor this fall.

Jackie Brown, a freshman from Yorktown, Va., was honored earlier this month after scoring four goals in a 10-0 road win over Stanly Community College.

McGuinness, in earning the honor, tallied five goals and an assist in the Lancers’ 7-2 victory over Oxford College of Emory University (Ga.).

The freshman leads USC-Lancaster this season in goals with eight and points with 20.

The USC Lancaster  Lancers hosted Stanly Community College on Thursday in Region X soccer play.
