Lancaster trio captures region track titles

Three Lancaster Bruins track members captured region titles at the region meet held in York on  Thursday, April 25.

Two of the LHS athletes were Lady Bruins, with Aliya Byrd winning the shot put in 35-1 and Yasmine Robinson capturing the discus in 103-7.

Deshoun Wright won the triple jump with a 43-11.5 effort.

Other Bruins qualifiers included the 4 x100 relay the 4 x 400 girls relay and the 4 x 100 boys relay.

The LHS Upstate qualifiers included Trevin Watts, shot put; Quinshun Evans, discus; Taylor Kirkland, triple jump; Shecori Brown, long jump; Aliya Byrd, discus; JeNae Jones, 800, 1600; and Jennell Jones, 1600, 3200

BHS track qualifiers

Buford had 14 athletes qualify for the Class AA Upper State meet in Landrum on May, 4.

Kyle Norcia qualified in the 1600 meters. The 4 x 800 includes Norcia, Michael Bender, Michael Knight and Dalen Trout. The team’s two alternates are Tanner Osborne and Peyton Norcia.

The girls 800 meter runners are Alex Blackmon and Renea Cox, while Tori Loughry qualified in the 1600 meters. Larah Watts qualified in the 100-meter hurdles.

The 4 x 400 relay of Alex Blackmon, Renea Cox, Tori Loughry and Autumn Rabon qualified. The team’s alternates are Lara Watts and Jensen Wallace.

The 4 x 800 relay of Alex Blackmon, Renea Cox, Tori Loughry and Courtney Beckham qualified.

The team’s alternates are Autumn Rabon and Sydney Ribelin.

Rabon qualified in the high jump for the BHS girls.
