Indian Land is in the driver’s seat for the Class A Upper State softball title, while Buford hits the road today in hopes of staying alive in its quest for the Upstate crown.

The Lady Warriors blanked Landrum 2-0 on Monday to stay unbeaten in the Class A Upstate title series.

Buford, which fell to Landrum 3-0 on Saturday to open the Class A Upstate softball tournament, stayed alive with a dramatic 6-5 win over McBee on Monday in an elimination game. The BHS win set up a showdown with Landrum today to decide which team faces Indian Land for the Class A Upstate title on Friday at IL.

Determined BHS, 21-9, scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to erase a 4-2 McBee lead and forge a 6-4 advantage.

Hannah Knight, who had a big night at the plate with three hits and three RBI, delivered a RBI-double to tally Carley Bailey for a 5-4 edge. Kayla Lloyd later tallied Knight on a fielder’s choice for a 6-4 lead. Earlier in the inning, BHS sisters Leslie and Lindsey Pressley each scored a run to tie the game.

McBee rallied for a run in the bottom of the seventh, but winning hurler Jena Hallman, 17-8, worked out of a one-out bases-loaded jam, getting a force at home to Leslie Pressley and a game-ending groundout to Bailey at third base.

Knight led the offense with three hits, three RBIs and scored a run. Lindsey Pressley, who had a dramatic two-run home run in the Lady Jackets’ 3-2 district-title clinching win at Dixie last week, delivered two hits and scored twice. Leslie Pressley had a hit and scored a run. Hallman added a hit and scored a run.

Hallman struck out eight and allowed nine hits and two walks.

Lady Warriors blank LHS

The Indian Land Lady Warriors tallied two runs in the second inning and Beth Martin, 4-2, hurled the shutout in a 2-0 IL win Monday.

Haley Vachon paced the 15-11 Lady Warriors’ five-hit attack with a double, single and the game’s only runs batted in.

Kelly Pauls, the IL hero Saturday with the grand slam in the win over McBee, had a hit and scored a run. Alyssa Hartley was hit by a pitch and later tallied a run.

Paige Brugh and Katie Jowers each had a hit for the winners.
