The Andrew Jackson Lady Volunteers are bound for the Class AA state volleyball championship after capturing the Class AA Upper State crown with a 3-1 win over Ninety Six High of Greenwood County on Wednesday night, Nov. 6 in the AJ gym.

The AJ victory sends the Lady Vols to face Bishop England of Charleston for the Class AA state crown at White Knoll High School in Lexington where the match begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9.

AJ, in front of a packed gym, prevailed over the stubborn Lady Wildcats, 25-10 before Ninety Six came back to win, 26-24.

AJ took game three, notching a 25-18 win.

Then in the clincher, the Lady Vols rallied from a 17-11 deficit to take the coveted Upstate crown with a 14-3 surge.

AJ, 20-3, was sparked by Hannah Cobb who served 10 straight points in the crucial game four spree.

"Once we got our momentum going, it was sheer desire," AJ coach John Verdugo said. "We exerted our will."

Bishop England, 38-7, rolled to a 3-0 win over Waccamaw – 25-11, 25-9 and 25-13 to capture the Class AA Lower State title and a shot at AJ.
