Lady Lancers drop three games

The University of South Carolina Lady Lancers dropped three games in recent softball play.

The USCL women, 0-8 on the season, fell to Spartanburg Methodist, 3-0, and 3-1 on Sunday, Feb. 10.

Tiffany Chapman led the Lady Lancers offense with two hits, including a home run and a double. Daphne Honeycutt, the former Buford High standout, had two hits, including a double, and drew a walk.

Ashley Williams, the former Andrew Jackson High softball star, reached base five times as she was hit by a pitch.

Dacia O’Neal, Amanda Burr and Anna Wilbourne each had a hit.

On Saturday, Feb. 9, Florence Darlington Tech edged the USCL Lady Lancers in eight innings.

Kayla Lloyd worked eight innings and allowed nine hits, six runs, two walks and struck out three Stingers.

Tiffany Chapman led the USCL offense with two hits, including a three-run home run. Kayla Lloyd had two hits and drove home a run. Ashley Williams had two hits and tallied twice.

Dacia O’Neal, Haley Vachon, Haley Lewis and Kelsey Baker each had a hit for the Lady Lancers.

Vachon, the USCL catcher, also threw out two SMC runners.

The USCL softball team is idle to March 1 when the Lady Lancers travel to Spartanburg Methodist for a pair of games with the Lady Pioneers at 2 and 4 p.m.
