Lady Bruins top IL for second tennis win

The Lancaster High School Lady Bruins tennis team notched their second win in a row by defeating cross county foe Indian Land 4-2 on Monday night at the USCL courts.

The Lady Bruins, who downed region foe South Pointe High School of Rock Hill for their first win on Sept. 5, had four strong singles wins from Ivy Plaza, Kadedra Brown, Lyric Drakeford, and LeLe Blackmon.

Moses played well at No. 1 singles, but fell by a close score of 6-4, 6-4 to the Lady Warriors’ Bridget Sampson.

The Lady Bruins’ No. 2 doubles team of Avery Faile and Abbi Plyler once again had an exciting back-and-forth match but lost in a deciding third set tiebreaker 10-8 to Omayra Hernandez and Ana Licon-Lopez.

In junior varsity action,  Taynesia Brace picked up a strong 8-0 victory over Christina Fargalla.

Lancaster is now 2-1 with a 1-1 region record. The Lady Bruins, who hosted Nation Ford on Tuesday, host Northwestern on Thursday at 5 p.m.
