KERSHAW – Kershaw officials are onboard with a plan to provide substantial tax relief for L&C Railroad.
At its Monday, March 18, meeting, Kershaw Town Council voted unanimously to accept L&C’s request to return to taxing levels before 2010.
The vote was 6-0. Councilman Morris Russell was absent from Monday’s meeting.
Because of state legislation (Act 388), the taxes L&C owes in the county have increased 450 percent since 2010, according to Steve Gedney, who oversees the railroad.
