KERSHAW – A Kershaw man has died after he was involved in a motorcycle crash on April 26.

Michael Gary Holden, 41, 6373 N. Matson St., died May 8.

S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Jeff Gaskin said Holden was driving his 1996 Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on Country Club Drive in Kershaw about 8:15 p.m. April 26 when he ran off the right side of the road and hit a ditch.

Holden was not wearing a helmet, Gaskin said. He was airlifted to Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia.

Gaskin said speed was not a factor in the crash, with Holden’s estimated speed at 55 mph in a 55 mph zone. Alcohol tests are pending.

“The cause of the collision remains under investigation,” Gaskin said Friday.

According to a Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office incident report, a passer-by noticed Holden’s motorcycle in the ditch and found Holden lying face down in the ditch about 20 feet away.
