KERSHAW – Kershaw Mayor Tommy Baker called a special meeting on Monday to address the hiring of a employee for the town's wastewater treatment plant, an issue that has divided council.
Baker requested the meeting to address controversy fanned by a Kershaw News-Era article two weeks ago that focused on a possible illegal move by council on Nov. 5 to allow a department head to hire a wastewater treatment plant operator.
"According to what the newspaper said, we were in violation of an ordinance," Baker said Monday.
