KARE sees spike in requests

KERSHAW – The last several months have looked just like an entire year in 2005 at the Kershaw Area Resource Exchange, or KARE.

That’s because the assistance agency has seen great increases in the number of people in the southern part of Lancaster County who’ve turned to the organization for help.

KARE operates a low-cost clothing room, gives emergency rent and utilities assistance and hands out food to people who have either a Kershaw or Heath Springs address.

The organization is now in its 26th year.
